Batting first, Moe lost both co-captains (Murphy 4, Straughair 2) to fall to 2/13 early. Youngsters Kye Micallef & Noah Keltie (7) added 35 for the 3rd wicket then Micallef & Shaun Curtis added 53 for the 4th stand.
Micallef (52) reached a half century & Curtis (25) a quarter century before both fell with the score on 101. Quick fire runs (Boswell 10, Edwards 8, J.Keltie 7 & Veenman 7) and wickets took the Lions to 142 all out with 1 over of the allotted 40 remaining.
Wickets were shared around for the Tigers (Shaw 3, Toogood 2, Corbin 2, Calder 2, Speed 1).
After the break, it was a demolition from the Lions bowling attack. Craig Boswell (4/4) & Henry Boothman (3/16) had the Tigers 7 down by the end of their overs with Haydn Edwards (1/4) & Craig Veenman (2/3) wrapping the match up 20 balls later. Mirboo North all out for 28 – Woodall 6 & L.Vanderzam 6* top scored for the visitors.
Moe advance to another Grand Final, looking to go one better this time around.
2025/26 Premier C Grade Grand Final
Saturday March 21st, 11.30am
Rawson v Moe

Premier C Grade
All focus turns to C Grade’s semi final this weekend. The Lions’ final preparation saw them defeat fellow finalists Churchill by 5 wickets. 5 batters made 20+ scores with Craig Veenman taking 4 wickets.
A really tough selection for co-captains Straughair & Murphy with 16 or so names in the hat to be reduced to 12 & 13th sub fielder.
Good luck to the team tomorrow and we hope to see a big Lions contingent in support.

Premier A & B Grade Results 7/3
A Grade’s campaign ended in back to back losses to the relegated sides, falling to Toongabbie on the final day. Rob Phoenix (49) & Benn Zomer (24 & 4/30) were Moe’s best in defeat. The Lions could’ve still played finals entering the final day if Churchill lost, or with a bonus point win if Imps beat Glengarry without a bonus point. Glen defeated Imps & Churchill def Morwell so a win wouldn’t have been enough anyway. A season without finals but also weren’t threatened by relegation.
B Grade also finished one spot above the relegation zone, 8th in a 10 team comp but were closer to finals than relegation. The Lions went to Ex-Students and unfortunately lost the toss. Jaensch was outstanding for the Sharks, hitting 190 off 139, seeing off Moe’s regular bowlers then taking to some part timers as the ball was thrown around in the final match of the year to players who hadn’t had much of a bowl in the campaign. Frank Manduci took 3 wickets & top scored with 26 as Moe’s best. Aiden Savige wrapped up the league average with another 2 wickets.
Let’s all get around C Grade as they aim to make another Grand Final.

Royce’s 10 wicket haul takes him to 28 for the season in all competitions. It also sees him pass 50 Club & 1st Grade wickets in emphatic style.
Congratulations Roycey!

Premier A Grade – v Centrals
Centrals have been relegated in all grades, so unfortunately there’ll be no ‘battle of the prides’ next campaign (unless drawn in T20 Comp against each other) but had the opportunity to hurt Moe’s finals chances this year. They did just that, winning by 96 runs on first innings. Moe attempted to reverse outright and in 25 overs, had Centrals 7/35 (a lead of 131). The following 20 overs saw Centrals resistance through to 8/65, a lead of 161 and match called with little time to go. Royce Colgrave took 6/16 in the second innings to take 10 wickets for the match. Great effort Roycey!
Moe now must been Toongabbie in the final round to overtake the loser of Glengarry & Imperials and rely on Churchill to lose to Morwell.
Premier B Grade
A mixed fortnight for B’s. A strong win over Churchill with Michael Johnstone (102*) & Troy Oakley (34) setting up the win. Then Toongabbie’s 3/230 was far too big of a mountain to climb last week, which ultimately ended B’s finals chances
Premier C Grade
C Grade march towards finals with a strong win over Glengarry and a solid win over finals contenders Morwell. Noah Keltie has made back to back 40’s with Shannon Murphy & Randy Straughair making a half century each. Craig Veenman took 6 wickets across the fortnight.

Standout Performance ![]()
– 102* Michael Johnstone (Premier B Grade)
In yesterday’s win over Churchill in Prem B, Michael Johnstone notched up an unbeaten 102*. Johnno’s innings included 12 fours & 2 sixes.
Joined by Troy Oakley at 3/29, the pair added 143 for the 4th wicket to set up the win.
Congratulations Johnno! ![]()
MILESTONE
Johnno was also 51 short of 1500 club runs prior to the innings and doubled that difference so now sits on 1551 following this knock. Well done Michael!

Milestone – 12,000 Runs: Andrew Philip. ![]()
Each year, the GOAT of Moe usually ticks over a multiple of 1000 in either 1st XI or club runs. Starting at 11,711 club runs, this campaign proves no exception, just a little later than expected.
Although he scored a 69 v Raiders in T20, Andrew’s 147 runs from his first 10 innings in Premier A appeared sub par for his high standards (although other players may take that gratefully).
But the best never stay down for long and Andrew has found form entering the business end of the season with 45* & 64 from his last 2 knocks.
With last round’s score, comes new record territory as Andrew becomes the first player in club history to hit 12,000 runs. TWELVE THOUSAND! ![]()
(Now just 80 short of 11,500 First Grade too so you’d expect 12,000 A Grade to be reached next season).
An unbelievable career and just continues to add to the legacy every campaign.
Never change Pud.
Legend.

Milestone – 2500 Club Runs – Noah Kane
With his first run against Churchill last round, former 1st XI skipper Noah Kane notched up 2500 senior club runs.
Noah has 230 1st XI runs so far this season, including a new high score of 91 against Glengarry in October and now sits 38 short of 2000 1st XI Runs.
The Kane name continues running strong at the club, with plenty of seasons & runs to come.
Well done Arky!

Milestones – Craig Veenman ![]()
300 Wickets & 250 Catches
A couple of massive milestones for Craig Veenman this season.
In December, Veeno took his 300th Club Wicket and as at now, sits on 310, sits 15th all time on current records.
And then in January, Veeno took his 250th Club Catch, surpassing Rob Sim into 2nd All Time. Sitting on 252, Craig needs just 4 catches to move past club president Paul Kane into top spot. Four weeks plus possible C Grade finals to get it this season.
Congratulations Veeno! ![]()
(An all-discipline club legend with 8000+ runs also, 3rd all time).

Matchday Results 7/2 – Thrillers all round.
Margins of 1 wicket, 1 wicket & 2 runs separated each match on the weekend. Unfortunately, only 1 result went our way. Prem C get a big win on the road. Prem B’s rough loss really hurts, falling to 8th and a win & a half outside the top four with 4 to play. Prem A fall back out of the Top 4 with 2 rounds to go.

Premier A Grade – Day 2 v Churchill
Starting the day at 6/234 (Andrew Philip 64, Mat Hibbs 62) with the ability to bat another 10 overs, it was a loss of 4/13 on day 2 to be all out for 247 which proved pivotal in hindsight. Churchill were reduced to 5/53 before Kearns & Keighran (58) added 113 for the 6th wicket. A fall of 3/25 made it 8/191 with 57 required. The 9th wicket fell at 244 for a grandstand finish but Kearns (118*) hit the winning boundary for the Cobras. Hibbs took 4/47 and Colgrave 2/59 for the Lions.

Premier B Grade – v Glengarry
It was also a thriller at home with our 2nd XI. Moe posted 173, their second highest score of the season, courtesy of a bunch of starts (Ash Savige 41, Semmens 24, Johnstone 23, Micallef 22, Jacovou 20). Porter took 4 wickets for the Magpies.
Glengarry survived a few early scares with top 2 run scorers (Paul Henry league leader, and Dunn, 4th in league) each dropped on 4. It cost the Lions a few runs with Dunn top scoring with 36 & Henry making 17. Steve Henry & J.Cochrane each made 29 & Wright 16 as the visitors also had a batting card full of starts. Ash Savige took wickets late in the innings to create drama.
5/152 (39.5) – Wright dismissed by Savige, 22 required off 31
6/156 (40.2) – S Henry out to Mahajan. 18 off 28
7/156 (41.1) – Cochrane out to Savige. 18 off 23
8/171 (43.6) – Sharp out to Savige. 3 off 6. Comically Glen skipper Henry shook hand of Aiden Savige thinking it was over when it was only 8 down.
9/171 (44.2) – McDonagh ran out. 3 off 4.
Then more drama and ultimately, generosity backfired for Moe, Glen suffered an injury fielding, so Hodson wasn’t batting. Team sheet didn’t specify non-batter, so with Hodson unable to bat & nothing written (we would’ve been fine to let them bat with 11, like we did for Morwell when they had a fielding injury last month), so Waack-Hawkins was allowed to bat…. but the problem was…… he hadn’t padded up.
He could’ve been timed out but with no umpires below A’s due to lack of numbers to enforce something like that without a vested interest in the result, it’s more of the traditional gentlemen’s game that cricket is.
Waack-Hawkins was allowed to face up over 4mins after the run out with 3 off 4 needed.
44.3 – dot ball.
44.4 – four.
Glengarry win with 2 balls to spare and stay 2nd (would’ve fallen to 3rd with loss)
A win would’ve seen Moe stay 6th, 2pts outside of the finals places. Now, the Lions fall to 8th with 4 games to play. 6pts outside the four, with matches against 9th, 7th, 3rd & 1st to come.
Premier C Grade – v Ex-Students
A strong win for C’s this week. Veenman (34), Murphy (25) & Boswell (22) helped the Lions to 149.
Ex-Students were bowled out for 147, Moe prevailing by just 2 runs. Veenman took 3/40, Boswell 2/14 & Boothman 2/27

Put a bunch of highlights packages up last night in quick succession as there are some key milestones to post this week.
