Moe v Boolarra
“McCartney & Straughair earn Lions victory”

BOOLARRA INNING

The Panthers batted first and Laaks (15) & Felmingham (14) withstood the opening spells of Daniel Farmer (0/14 off 6 first spell) & Hayden Edwards (0/16 off 4). Aaron Johnstone & Jagbir Singh were unleashed at first change and took 4/22 off 16 overs between them to get Moe right on top. Ben McCartney took his first wicket to see Boolarra half their wickets down with 65 runs posted. Reiske (23) & Baker (22) top scored for the Panthers adding 27 for the 6th wicket before McCartney struck again at 6/92. Reiske became casualty number 3 for McCartney at 7/108 & Cameron his 4th at 8/112. Farmer got in on the act with a wicket before McCartney wrapped up his first senior (possibly career) 5-wicket haul with Boolarra all out for 115. Congratulations Ben!

Moe Bowling:
D.Farmer 1/17 (8.) – H.Edwards 0/16 (4) – A Johnstone 2/15 (9) – J.Singh 2/7 (7) – J.Shields 0/28 (7) – B.McCartney 5/25 (8.5)

MOE INNING
Fall of wicket not available
Moe’s innings got off to a less than desirable start with Jesse Pheeney 🦆 not troubling the scorers. Opener Randy Straughair got some support from Jagbir Singh (15) before Singh & Glibanovic (1) fell in quick succession. Evan Sheekey (16) was next in and also got a start before the earlier scenario of a senior dismissal quickly followed by a junior dismissal repeated itself with Shields (5) out soon after to make it 5 wickets down. Aaron Johnstone (18*) joined Straughair to see the Lions through to victory with 9 overs to spare. Straughair finished not out on 60*, with 4 fours & 3 sixes. Jacob Carnes (2/30) was the only multiple wicket taker for Boolarra.

C GRADE:

Moe vs CATS
“Lions fall just short in chase”

CATS Inning:

Moe started strongly in their travels out to Callignee, courtesy of the evergreen Ronnie Whitney (3/16 from his 8 overs). Hagley (21) & Cooper (17) did get starts before falling victim to Whitney. Fleming (8) & Stevenson 🦆 fell to Brandon Hansch (2 wickets) to reduce CATS to 5/51. Nic Reed (1/15 off 8.) got in on the act shortly after to make it 6/60, Moe well on top. Tony Harrup (71*) & Craig McDonald (21) had other plans and brought CATS back into the game with a 62 run partnership, more than doubling the team total to date. Harrup then dominated an unbeaten 42 run pairing with Pass (3*) to reach 7/164 from the allotted 40 overs. Whitney, Reed & Aiden Savige were the pick of the bowlers for the Lions.

🦁 Moe Bowling:
R.Whitney 3/16 (8.) – A.Kennedy 0/12 (4) – A.Savige 0/19 (8.) – N.Reed 1/15 (8.) – B.Hansch 2/46 (8.) – S.Murphy 1/18 (2) – K.Micallef 0/31 (2)

MOE INNING

Chris De Vent (13) & Mark Micallef got the Lions off to a decent start with 44 for the first wicket. Hansch (13) got a start at first drop to get to 2/68. The Micallef father-son pairing didn’t last long with Kye dismissed for 4 (3/76). Skipper Shannon Murphy joined Micallef (Mark) for a 45 run 4th wicket stand before Micallef was caught on 61 (4/121). Kennedy (4) & Chessells 🦆 were both dismissed with the score on 126. Whitney dominated the 7th wicket partnership scoring 18 of the 20 run pairing before he was the last batsman dismissed. Murphy (22*) & Reed (3*) closed the innings at 7/153, going down by just 11 runs.

A competitive effort from C Grade who fielded with 10 players; an extra fielder potentially would’ve restricted the score to below what the Lions efforts totalled, regardless of the batting prowess of that extra number.
