B GRADE – Moe vs Newborough
NEWBOROUGH INNING:
Newborough won the toss and batted. Bailey Wilson (0/8 off 4) was economical with the new ball whilst Aaron Johnstone (3/7 off 6) did the damage at the other end, reducing the Bulldogs to 4/20, with Ben McCartney producing a run out within also. Josh Pickering (3/4 off 7) destroyed the middle order whilst Hayden Edwards (1/13 off 3) also got in on the act. McCartney (0/8 off 3) was economical too, before Jordan Shields (2/2 off 1.1) wrapped up proceedings. Newborough all out for just 48 off 25.1 overs. It could’ve been less with extras topping the card with 17. Mitchell (10*) was the only batsman to reach double figures.
MOE INNING
The youngsters were sent in for the small chase and although it might’ve taken a longer time in overs to reach the total, it offered the potential for the kids to get valuable match time at the crease. Could they make the most of it? Brodyn Blandford (1) opened with Jesse Pheeney and fell in the 2nd over. Pheeney (9) lasted until the 14th over before him and acting skipper Evan Sheekey (12) fell three balls apart. Jordan Shields (1) was lbw the next over at 4/26 and suddenly it didn’t look all rosy for the Lions. Aaron Johnstone (14*) & Mustafa Glibanovic (10*) came to the crease and cooled things down, reaching the required score without another loss. 4/53 off 28 overs. Shrubb (2/10 off 7) took multiple wickets whilst the rest were quite economical.
C GRADE – Moe vs Trafalgar
Trafalgar win by forfeit.
After fielding 4 sides last year, it’s quite disappointing to write that we were unable to field 3 teams this week due to significant unavailability for various reasons. We are a proud club and disappointed for both the insufficient number of players we did have available along with Brent Claridge © & his Trafalgar C Grade side, who all didn’t get to play a game on Saturday as a result. We hope to not be in that position again.
