🦁 Premier A Grade – Moe def Toongabbie

A collapse of 4/26 reduced the Rams from 1/51 to 5/77 with wickets shared around. Munasinghe (71) & Shippen (50) added 117 for the 6th wicket to put the Rams into a decent position. Both fell 3 runs apart to commence a secondary collapse of 5/21 to close out the innings. Toongabbie all out for 215 in the 48th over. Callum Grant took 3 wickets with 2 each to Brady Cake & Benn Zomer.

Moe lost Evan Sheekey🦆 & Callum Grant (12) early at 2/22. Andrew Philip (34) stabilised the innings with Benn Zomer in a 57 run 3rd wicket partnership. Another 75 was added between Zomer & Mat Hibbs (59) to put the Lions in a commanding position. Zomer fell at 4/154 and Hibbs at 5/185, with just 31 required. Noah Kane (23), Anu Anubhav (11*) & Royce Colgrave (13*) saw Moe through to victory with 4.2 overs to spare. Shippen was the only multiple wicket taker for the hosts.

A Grade moves into 2 dayers commencing this week, hosting Glengarry at Burrage.

🦁 Premier B Grade – Moe lost to Glengarry

Daniel Farmer captured the prized wicket of Paul Henry early and Savige ran out Steve Henry to reduce the Magpies to 2/23.

Andrew Winter (36) & Chris Dunn (63*) added 87 for the 3rd wicket before Rob Blunt bowled Winter. Hodson (12), Cochrane (11*) & Dunn accelerated the innings late to post 4/154 from their 45 overs. Farmer took 2 wickets for Moe.

Moe’s chase got off to a steady start to 2/58 but with a climbing run rate required. By the time Jesse Pheeney (12) joined Mark Whitney at the crease at 5/71, the Lions needed a run a ball on a slow ground. The pair added 25 in an effort to boost the scoring rate required was just too high. Whitney top scored with 28, his wicket commencing a tail collapse of 4/6 in the closing overs. Moe all out for 123, going down by 31 runs. Porter took 4/11 for the Magpies as the standout with Henry & Cochrane taking 2 wickets each.

Moe host Boolarra next week in one of B’s only two games on the Racecourse Turf.

🦁 Premier C Grade – Moe def Ex-Students

Craig Veenman top scored with 31 for Moe batting first, with Matt Burridge (18), Tyler Duff (14), Shannon Murphy (13) & David Biggins (12) getting double figure starts. The Lions posted 9/121 from their allotted 40 overs. Ashton took 3 wickets for the Sharks with Churchill & Isles taking 2 each.

Paul Cake’s return saw him take the wickets of the 2 openers. Students were reduced to 4/32 before Kosterman (20) & Mackay (20) put up the most resistance. Once the pair were dismissed, the tail only added a further 4 runs off the bat, all out for 80. Jacob Lewis-Biggins took his first 2 wickets for Moe with father David also taking 2. Max Moroney took 2 also with Duff & Veenman 1 each.

C Grade have a week off for Melbourne Cup weekend with a few players early form having them putting their names in the ring for B Grade selection.
