Matchday Results 7/3 & Semi Final Preview

13th March 2026

🏏Premier C Grade

All focus turns to C Grade’s semi final this weekend. The Lions’ final preparation saw them defeat fellow finalists Churchill by 5 wickets. 5 batters made 20+ scores with Craig Veenman taking 4 wickets.

A really tough selection for co-captains Straughair & Murphy with 16 or so names in the hat to be reduced to 12 & 13th sub fielder.

Good luck to the team tomorrow and we hope to see a big Lions contingent in support.

🏏Premier A & B Grade Results 7/3

A Grade’s campaign ended in back to back losses to the relegated sides, falling to Toongabbie on the final day. Rob Phoenix (49) & Benn Zomer (24 & 4/30) were Moe’s best in defeat. The Lions could’ve still played finals entering the final day if Churchill lost, or with a bonus point win if Imps beat Glengarry without a bonus point. Glen defeated Imps & Churchill def Morwell so a win wouldn’t have been enough anyway. A season without finals but also weren’t threatened by relegation.

B Grade also finished one spot above the relegation zone, 8th in a 10 team comp but were closer to finals than relegation. The Lions went to Ex-Students and unfortunately lost the toss. Jaensch was outstanding for the Sharks, hitting 190 off 139, seeing off Moe’s regular bowlers then taking to some part timers as the ball was thrown around in the final match of the year to players who hadn’t had much of a bowl in the campaign. Frank Manduci took 3 wickets & top scored with 26 as Moe’s best. Aiden Savige wrapped up the league average with another 2 wickets.

Let’s all get around C Grade as they aim to make another Grand Final.
