A GRADE – Moe vs CATS

MOE INNINGS

Moe won the toss and batted but it turned into the Cal Stewart & Dylan Keyhoe (wk) show. Riley Baldi (4 off 25) & Noah Kane (15 off 44) were both bowled by Stewart before Sean Spiteri (🦆 off 6) became the first caught behind casualty of the day. Stewart had 4 wickets when he nabbed the crucial wicket of Andrew Philip (16 off 57), also caught by Keyhoe. Ash Savige (🦆 off 19) was Brad Foster’s (1/18 off 13) only wicket for the day, again caught behind. Chris Robinson (25 off 48) offered a short defiance before falling to Tyler Brown to make it 6/71. Callum Grant (2 off 41) became Stewart’s 5th victim and also Keyhoe’s 5th dismissal at 7/80. Paddy Spiteri (10 off 37) was next to go, lbw to Stewart. Clint Taylor (14 off 29) & Royce Colgrave added 27 for the 9th wicket before Stewart turned catcher off Brown to dismiss Taylor. Colgrave (27* off 47) added 14 of the 15 run last wicket stand before Blunt (1 off 9) was caught behind to give Keyhoe 6 catches for the day and Stewart 7 wickets. Moe all out for 123 off 60.1 overs. Stewart finished with 7/31 from 19.1 and Brown 2/29 off 15.

CATS INNING

Moe dominated the early proceedings with Royce Colgrave (Cochrane 🦆off 8.), Robert Blunt (D.Keyhoe 4 off 28) & Callum Grant (Josh Moore 2 off 41) dismissing the top 3 early to make it 3/11 and the Lions were suddenly in the box seat. Josh Keyhoe (19* off 47) & Tyler Brown (32* off 50) played attacking resistance to add an unbeaten 51* run stand as at stumps. Clint Taylor (0/3 off 7) has bowled well to date despite not picking up a scalp. CATS well in the box seat now but it’s a funny game cricket, you never know what will happen.

Game to resume tomorrow 28/1

MIRBOO NORTH INNING

Mirboo won the toss and batted. Veterans Steve Rogers & Chris Anders added 48 for the opening pairing before Daniel Farmer (1/21) got the breakthrough. Logan Anders (5) fell to Pickering (1/15) at 2/64 before Wise (14) was bowled by Jag Singh (1/5) at 3/87. Rogers knock of 73 was ended by Bailey Wilson at 4/121 and the innings closed abruptly from there as Aaron Johnstone took 4 wickets (Chila 6, A.McCarthy 🦆, King 🦆, Hysen 🦆) including 3 in 4 deliveries to wrap up Mirboo’s innings at 8/126 from their 45 overs. MOE INNING

Moe’s innings got off to a poor start as both openers Jesse Pheeney (5 off 12) & Randy Straughair (8 off 20) were dismissed by Andy McCarthy early to have the Lions 2/14. Jag Singh held the majority of the strike for the 3rd pairing, also doing the majority of the scoring in a 41 stand with Jarryd Atkinson (5 off 25). The latter was dismissed at 3/55. Singh & Evan Sheekey added approximately 60 odd runs to get within 10 of the total. Sheekey retired (33* off 48 including six fours) to allow junior Brodyn Blandford to the crease. It didn’t start well as shortly after Singh was run out for a 65, a hard earned knock from 84 deliveries with 7 boundaries. At 4/119, the Lions needed just 8 runs and Blandford (10* off 12) and Wilson (2* off 12) saw them home. Moe closing at 4/134 from 35 overs, ten overs to spare. McCarthy 2/21 off 6 was Mirboo’s best with the ball.

The result puts the Lions back within 2pts off the Top 4.

C GRADE – Moe vs CATS (Racecourse Synthetic)

CATS batted first and the top order set the tone for the inning early. Ron Whitney (0/7 off 8.) did his usual thing and the CATS batters saw him & Edwards (0/18) off, taking their runs from the bowlers that followed. Dale Fleming (33) was first to fall at 1/64 to Mustafa Glibanovic (1/39). Beaver (20) was next to go, falling to Aiden Savige at 2/97. From here the Lions started to get on top.
