Darryn Stares & Burkeley Macfarlane saw off the opening spells of Hughes & Taylor, ticking the total along to 46. Blunt couldn’t replicate his 20/20 form, bowling 3 overs all at Stares and conceding 20 runs including 4 fours, more than his four T20 overs combined. 11 runs came at the other end in that time to move the total quickly to 77. A few overs later, Stares (34) was caught at short leg by Zomer for the first breakthrough of the day at 3/79. Leading wicket taker Jordan Shields also bowled three overs for 13 without a breakthrough.
Macfarlane (36) and Maynard added a further 55 to take the game away from the Lions, Zomer dismissing Macfarlane lbw not offering a shot. Maynard moved past his half century before Akila Silva (7) was bowled by Hughes with scores level. The game was called at lunch, Raiders winning on 1st innings when Robertson (4) was caught two balls before the scheduled break. Maynard finished 66* unbeaten, the visitors securing their first win of the season after a number of close losses. Hughes toiled hard for 3/49 from 25 overs, Clint Taylor collecting 2/52.
Work to do for Moe, not enough runs after a 6/11 collapse last week and inconsistent bowling for the most part today. Now drop to 6th out of 8.
