Premier A Grade Round 6 Day 1 Report 16/11

18th November 2024

Moe v Raiders

Moe Inning’s

Andrew Philip (76) & Noah Kane (48*) were the only major contributors and only batsmen to hit double figures in the batting card for the Lions, after they were sent in at Ted Summerton Reserve. Raiders’ decision to bowl paid off with both openers dismissed for single digits by Ben Rivers (Sheekey 9, Savige 7). Philip & Kane joined at 3/48, following the dismissal of Nathan Lee (6). The pair batting through until after lunch, when Philip became Rivers’ third scalp.

Jordan Shields’s (6) 6th wicket stand of 26 with Kane was the last of any note, as his dismissal triggered a 6/11 collapse to see the Lions fall from 4/154 to all out for 165, the last 5 batters featuring 1 run (Atkinson 1, run out going for two) and four ducks (Hughes, Taylor, Blunt, McKenzie). Rivers finished with an impressive 5/12 off 15 overs, whilst Tom Robertson claimed 3/22. Kane’s knock of 54 against Glengarry took him past 1500 1st XI runs and sat at 1993 club runs following it. Yesterday’s 7th run saw him achieve the 2000 club run milestone.

Raiders Inning’s-

Raiders had to face a potentially tricky 16 over period before stumps. Hughes (1/18 off 8 overs) & Taylor (1/13 off 6 overs) bowled the majority of the evening for the Lions, each taking an opener caught behind (Cheshire 17, Webber 8.). Lee (0/3 off 2) was used for the final two overs at the Vale St end. Raiders are 2/36 at stumps, requiring 130 runs for first innings points. Moe obviously need 8 wickets in that time and welcome back Zomer & Phoenix for day 2. Savige will need a fielding replacement after injury whilst batting.
