Premier C Grade Match Results 18/11

24th November 2023

The Lions travelled to Glengarry with the Magpies skipper Ashleigh Hodson back in C’s after taking 3 wickets and hitting a match winning unbeaten half century to defeat Moe’s B Grade last weekend at the same venue. Hodson won the toss and sent the Lions in.

 Moe Innings: 6/138 (40)

Chris De Vent (15) & Shannon Murphy (4) gave Hodson no such joy with the ball this week, importantly seeing his 8 overs off without success albeit supremely economical (0/8 off 8.) Mustafa Glibanovic (5) was the only casualty at the other end during his spell. Murphy, Edwards & De Vent fell in a collapse of 3/2 to the first change bowlers to reduce the Lions to 4/36.

C Grade would like the Cake’s to play every week as Paul made his second score in the 40’s in a row. Fines Master Frank Manduci’s ears were ringing again when another dismissal just short of 50 occurred as Cake fell for 46. With U16’s Captain Max Moroney, the pair put on 91 for the 5th wicket in basically 20 overs. Max scored 25 of his own which I believe is his highest career score, irrespective of level. Well done Max!

They were both dismissed in the closing overs with juniors Brady Cake (8*) and Tyler Duff (2*) seeing Moe close at 6/138 from 40 overs. L.Martin (2/27) was the only multiple wicket taker for the hosts in a card with 32 extras.

Glengarry – 78 all out

The extras kept coming after the break, as Bailey Wilson, making his first appearance for the season, didn’t quite get the radar right (7 wides & 4 no balls). We have no doubt he’ll re-find his rhythm in the coming weeks, and even in this game. 0/23 off 5 was a solid recovery considering, with just 12 runs off the bat. Haydn Edwards (2/20) snagged a couple of wickets from the other end. At 2/44 in the 12th, the Magpies were sitting comfortably. Enter the evergreen Ron Whitney. 3 for 19 off 7 overs including the wicket of Hodson (9) pairing with U14’s Brady Cake (2/15) and Moe were well on their way to victory. Tyler Duff (2/0) bowled a double wicket maiden to finish the game, Glengarry all out 60 runs short. The wickets were shared around, whilst Bailey Wilson ran out the top scorer Britten (20).

Next Up:

Another first time meeting, Rovers at Old Trafford (small ground behind the Traralgon footy oval).
