Premier C Grade – vs CATS
Runs were hard to come by for both teams at Traralgon South with a run rate of just 2.37 combined.
Moe Innings:
Moe batted first, posting 6/92 from their full 40 overs. Troy Oakley (48*) made the majority of the runs whilst Tyler Duff (12) & Shannon Murphy (10) reached double figures. Corey Beaver (3/22 off 8.) was the hosts best with the ball.
Cats Innings:
A very similar innings for CATS, achieving the victory with just 2 overs to spare, 4/93 from 38 overs. Again, similarly, 3 bats made double figures, with one making the only significant contribution to the total (Cooper 40*, Wilkerson 17, Fleming 14). Hayden Edwards (2/31 off 8.) took multiple wickets, and also nabbed a run out. Mustafa Glibanovic (1/14 off 5) was the only other Moe bowler to get a scalp, whilst Ronnie Whitney & Paul Cake (both 0/10 off 8 overs each) gave nothing away.
Summary:
With just 4 rounds left, the result now puts Moe 2.5 games behind 4th. Although a somewhat favourable fixture (facing 6th, 7th, bye, 3rd), finals chances now look very slim despite mathematically possible. Had Moe def CATS, it would’ve been half a game between the sides, a true 8-point fixture falling the wrong way.
