Round 5 v Centrals 2 day game, we finally got a game on Ted Summerton.
Centrals won the toss and elected to be first.
Moe’s bowlers got off to a nice steady start picking up a couple of early wicket with not too many runs being scored, Centrals were hovering at 3/39, but a good steady partnership from a couple of batsmen saw them get to a quick scoring 4/127 off their 20 overs, best bowlers for Moe, Brady Cake 2/16, Tyler Duff 1/21 & Rusty Axford 1/6. Pretty good effort in the field with all catches being held, with the outfield being extremely quick the score wasn’t to out of control.
So Moe went into bat with Sam shields blocking the 1st ball for 4 you could feel a bit of a lift straight away, unfortunately that wasn’t to last too long, Kye Micallef was unlucky to be bowled in the weirdest played-on I have seen in my cricket career after he blocked the ball into the ground the ball bounced up and off the top of his helmet and rolled down the back of his leg and trickling into the stumps just managing to knock 1 bail off, after losing our 1st wicket at 12 we then lost 3/10 to be sitting at 4/22, a nice little 30 run partnership between rusty & brady saw the score to 51 before Rusty lost his wicket, Brady was next to fall and with Ray Humphries being bowled the next delivery which left us at 7/63, putting the Centrals bowler on a hat trick which Elijah Davies saw off with ease. Next wicket to fall was Elijah 8/70, with still 4-5 overs remaining in the day it was going to take some hard work to see it to stumps, but Angus Murdoch & Hayden Schultz dug in and got there finish our 20 overs at 8/87. Best run scorers for the day were, Sam Shields 13, Brady Cake 18, Angus Murdoch 18no & Hayden Schultz 8no
So looking forward to next week we still have some runs to get to make Centrals bat again, the boys are trying hard and giving it a shot, after asking them to bat there overs out they have atleast achieved that this week, albeit losing 8 wickets. But improvements are coming just stick at it boys.
